How can I give my cat a bath? She has nails and there is no just setting her in she'll climb me.?

Sorry this is so long.

She's a year and a half and I adopted her so I didn't have the chance to raise her from a kitten with dealing with bathtime. I understand the whole cats can clean themselves thing and I get that. I have allergies and the only way for me to be able to breathe is to give her a bath every 2 or 3 weeks, about when the shampoo smell goes away. I love cats. I can't just not have one, I already have her and am not giving her up.

I have given her bathes a few times before...

The first time I didn't no what I was doing and ended up pouring water on her on the bathroom floor cause she would NOT go into the tub. She would climb me and no amount of scruff holding would make her stay. She does have claws and is not one of those sit in the bathtub and be pitiful kinds of cats.

The other times I had a friend show me how and help me. She would fill the tub, have the cat next to the tub, and pick her up by her scruff and somewhere around her back near her hind legs. She'd put her in the tub and hold her with her front feet sticking up so the cat couldn't do anything but yowl her unhappiness. I think that might not be good cause her back doesn't have the skin her scruff does but it worked.

Now my friend isn't available for occasional cat baths due to school and work. I can't do what she did cause I'd have no hands to bathe the cat I'd just be holding her. Is there a way to bathe the cat without A. her climbing me when she sees I've shut the door to the bathroom or B. me holding a jumping, twisting, clawing cat just to even get her into the water let alone washing her? I'm worried I'm going to hurt her when she goes into hysterics because she still has so much movement with me holding her scruff. Any ideas besides pouring water on her while she sits on towels? I can't even get her to sit in an empty tub to pour water on her from my full sink, so theres no running water. How can I give my cat a bath? She has nails and there is no just setting her in she'll climb me.?
I have one as you describe that gives us the pitiful looks. The other is a twister, squirmer, clawer kind. The funny thing is; he likes to play in water when a bath is not involved and it isn't too deep. What we did to calm him down to give us a little extra non panic time is to slowly work up to bath time.

For example: we would shut the door and talk to him as he started to calm down we would pet him. Then open the door without a bath. Do this several times until he doesn't panic with the door shut. We then put a ball in the tub and let him play with it. We then filled the tub with 2 inches of water, put the ball in then brought him in. The sound of rushing water scared him. We let him jump in and play usually he had wetted himself pretty good with playing and a cup preferably plastic would get the rest. We let him play sometimes without the nasty bathtime too. Then we soaped him up as if we were petting him in the tub and telling him he is such a good boy. Two or three plastic juice(or Koolaid) pitchers to rinse him off left just a little bit with the noisy shower or bath spigot. A few treats as mentioned already helped ease the pride too. We tried to think of a way that the bathtub was not a scary place for him. And we will still do some of the above from time to time without the bath just so he isn't just associating the tub with a bath.

And as frustrating, painful, and nerve wracking it is for you try and stay calm and quick about what you are doing, it will help him not panic as well. If you hold down around the shoulder blades gently it is harder for them to squirm and move then if you actually scruff her, and it takes less concentration on your part. It does make you a bit more vulnerable to a bite though.

Another little hint trim her nails the night before, so that they aren't as sharp. If you do it right before she is going to be agitated over that, too.

If possible and sometimes it isn't after the bath just hold him and stroke him and tell him he is a good girl.

It takes a lot of one on one time, but with the amount of baths you have to give her, it sounds like it might make it a lot easier on you if it works.

Hope your kitty stays squeaky clean, happy and you scratch free. How can I give my cat a bath? She has nails and there is no just setting her in she'll climb me.?
Try washing it with a wet wash cloth. Cats don't like baths so you should either use the sink or a wash cloth.
put her in the shower and just get her wet
have you tried the waterless shampoo's? you can get them at WalMart and PetSmart. and i think they have one that reduces dander.

hope this helps.
Bathing cats is one dangerous thing!! I had three cats, wow it was a workout washing them. I have lots of scars from it too. I was always afraid of the cat scratching my eyes.

This one page shows bathing the cat in the sink, thats a good idea if you are tall enough to use it comforatably, why didnt I think of that! Its to hard in the tub bending over. This article sites cutting the cats nails first, if you have not done this, get someone at the vets or pet store to show you how, it can be painful for the cat if done incorrectly.
going to your doctor and getting shots for your allergies would be easier.

the problem is, no matter what you do, the cat will learn what you are doing and counter attack.
first of all call a groomer and make an appointment. ask to stay and ask questions. all i know is it's very bad to pour water on their heads because water can get stuck in their ears and get infected. running water or not it will terrify the kitten because that isn't how the momma cat bathed her.

you can get a big bowl of warm water. a few towels and one for your lap and body. some soap in the water and keep in mind only a few drops. give her a sponge bath sitting down on your lap. have her favorite kitty treats and feed her if you notice her being good. positive reinforcement training can work on cats. also too much bathing can dry out the skin and cause more issues for the cat. sponge baths will be similar to what the mother does and she may like it.

what has happened so far has been extremely negative and must of been sheer terror for her and i would suggest easing her into it with positive training. she isn't going to go willingly right now and it could cause serious behavior issues.

make sure to ask the groomer for cat safe shampoo that will not hurt their skin.

when in doubt always feel free to call your vet about what to do, they do have the ability to help resolve issues of any kind.

best wishes.
I know this sounds extreme but I would suggest putting her in one of those net bags used to hold socks for washers. The holes are tiny and she won't be able to get tangled up in it, those bags have drawstring tops and you can just tie it with a quick release if you're worried. In this you can soap her up and rinse her fairly easily too but you will have to be extra careful about making sure she can breathe while you are washing her through the bag. I don't usually like using force but outside of trimming her claws and muscling your way through it, which can be dangerous for you both, this is at least doable without physical harm to either of you. It would be best of course to think of a way to make baths pleasant, I am a clicker trainer for dogs and horses and I know that given time you could actually teach her to enter water of her own accord but if you are working on a serious phobia and a 2-3 week time line a quick-fix is the only thing you can do.
Its tough to give a bath to a cat that will not cooperate when you have no 2nd person to hand you the shampoo. But this is what I do (and I've washed most cats by myself).

1. Trim all nails before you attempt to bath.

2. Have a mat or towel in the bottom of the tub for stability.

3. Only put in about 2 inches deep on the water.

4. Let her hold onto the back of the tub/railing/soap dish and wet her down with a washcloth. You may have to switch hands and scruff her neck with one hand, wet with the other. Be firm with her. Make her sit and talk to her softly (that really helps).

5. Scruff her and put just a small amount of shampoo down the back and then take both hands and quickly wash her body and legs (remember neck down - no higher).

Then drain the tub and start rinsing her off good. I have a hand held shower head and it work great for rinsing.

Quickly wrap her in a towel and start drying her off.

Now I didn't know you were washing for allergies.............you don't need to give a complete bath for that. Its much quicker to get some DISTILLED drinking water and wipe down your cat every day. The distilled water will neutralize the allergins in the coat and I'm sure that will work a lot better for you then complete washing the cat. I know people with allergies to do this and they are fine with the cat. Try that first rather then a complete bath.
Uh dude.

First off, use the kitchen sink. Fill it like half way with water. Hold your cat by the scruff of the neck. Don't be scared to like, hold it tight and what not. Anyhow force her into the water, use a cup to get her wet all the way. Soap her, rinse her, wrap her in a towel and dry her best you can then let her hide lol.

When you're holding her, hold her scruff reallly tightly and stuff and use your strength to hold her down in the sink. She will fight, so make sure her claws is not facing you and that she has nothing to grab onto.

Iunno.

Anything else to tell you.

I have three cats.

One of them is muscley.

One is fat fat fat and I mean faat and he has flab that hangs.

And one is a runt.

So when I do baths I have three to deal with one at a time =D

It works though.

Bandit is a huge cat and still growing, the muscley one, and if I can hold him down by the scruff I'm sure you can do it.

Just grab a whole handful of the scruff.

Hold it tight to where your nails dig in, and push down on them when holding them down. It should work.

Good luck =D

%26lt;_%26lt;

I thought of something else.

If everything fails.

Put the cat in a cat carryier cage thingy.

And spray it down with a hose.

Then squirt soap on her through the holes.

And like, use a scrub brush with a handle and rub the soap in, and spray her down to rinse her.

xD

She can't run away or claw you that way.
Most local veterinarians offer this service. If you ask the vet tech for pointers on doing it at home between appointments, they just might give you a few tips.

When my little Mandy got into the garage and decided that the open motor oil bottle would be fun to bat around the floor ended up covered, I consulted my vet. She suggested 25mg of Benadryl. I opened the capsule and placed 1/2 of it in her favorite snack - tuna fish. she wasn't knocked out but she was much easier to bathe. I clipped the claws on all 4 paws before the med kicked in - she enjoyed that part. and once she was sedated, but awake, my friend and I took the task of bathing her. The vet had given us a special shampoo that would help get the oil off of her skin, the only problem with this particular shampoo was that it would dry out her skin, so she gave me a lotion/ conditioner that helped her skin recover. I do not suggest you do the Benadryl until consulting with your vet, tho. And it wouldn't hurt to spend the extra money on the proper shampoo for you frisky feline - just another suggestion. Good Luck

use yahoo search or another search engine until you find all of the info that will make your kitty clean and calm

Again - good luck
My grandson was bitten through the thumb nail this summer trying to give their cat a bath and was on antibiotics for a month because of a mass infection. There is a dry shampoo on the market that can you use to give your cat a bath. It is much simpler and will save a lot of discomfort for you and the cat. Check it out at Pet Smart.
They do sell a kind of kitty bathing wipe that helps with allergens but I'm not sure how well they work. If you can't find them and have to get your cat a bath then here is what it says to do in a book I own:

';Start with a room temperature water in a sink, only on the feet at first. Use a cup to pour over the back (the faucet can be frightening), give a gentle massage, towel dry, and let the cat go. Accustom your cat to short sessions with no shampoo at first, then gradually add a quick foamy shampoo massage and a through rinse.';

Hopefully your cat will slowly be less resistant to the baths. Also you should trim your cats nails a day or so before you give her a bath so she doesn't scratch you super bad.
number 1, don't bathe her in the tub. Use the sink.

I know you would have to clean out the sink but cats hate being closed into one room. (My cat is fine, until I close a door. Then she whines and claws at the walls.)

Use one hand to hold her down and scrub her with your free hand. She won't like it but you need to chow her you are the boss. make sure you give her a treat before and after a bath. That way, when you give her a treat, she knows what coming, and she knows there is a reward.
Use duck tape, it is not very sticky so it won't hurt her at all, and wrap a little around her 2 front paws and then wrap a little around her 2 back paws and then just lay her down on a nice soft towel, and get a wash cloth and put a small amount of water of her and do it fairly slowly so she doesn't get upset. And rub the washcloth over her until she is all clean, and make sure to talk softly to her so she is okay and not scared for the next time you do it. Then when your done cleaning her, then the tape come off easily and then give her a treat!

When I buy the self acrylic sets to fill my own nails, they pop off. Why?

I follow the directions, use a bonder and still they pop off. I even went to a beauty supply and got better stuff, acrylic powder, liquid, bonder, etc. When I buy the self acrylic sets to fill my own nails, they pop off. Why?
I use to have the same problem. I've been a professional nail technician for nearly two years now and from my experience, I can say that acrylic can be difficult to master. There's several factors that make a good set of acrylic nails, but I can promise that the best acrylic products in the world won't do you any good if your technique isn't good.

Acrylic is something you have to practice. Along with following the manufacturer's instructions to the letter, you have to learn to apply the acrylic in a manner that helps them adhere to the nail. You must also be careful not to let the acrylic touch the cuticle when applying it as that encourages lifting. Also try patting the acrylic down on the nail around the cuticle. That helps me. Other than having someone with experience actually demonstrate for you, all I can say is just to keep practicing. When I buy the self acrylic sets to fill my own nails, they pop off. Why?
im a nail technician and to be honest its safer to get a pro to do them there is less risk of damage to the nail plate but make sure to go to someone who is reputable r u could have problems like fungus and and damaged nail plate

Try washing your hands with dish detergent first. That helps wash off natural oils on your hands and it doesn't have moisturizers in it. That helps my nail polish stay on and go on more evenly, maybe it will help your acrylics stay on too.
you need to make sure your nails are clean and then file the surface a little to make it rough so it will stick batter

As stated, NO NAILS, and no matter the species, or pre treatments, all wood outdoors needs re-treating at some reg. intervals. I'd even look at Red Wood, etc. over treated Pine/Spruce. For decking I might even go TREX or another composite

Nails cannot be retightened and just the action of using the structure will cause sway/shift, etc. over time.

The description sounds fine, and no matter who you buy lumber from, I'd hand pick EVERY piece.

Just my 2 ';sense';Building a wooden swing set.Pros'/Con's of-Carriage bolts vs. Nails..Pressure Treated vs. Kiln Dry wood.HELP..
Don't use nails.

They ';shimmy'; out , and cause a hazard .

Bolts will last.

I'd use pressure treated with poly urethane finish.
I would use both nails and bolts, depending on the application. For overhead supports that the swing attaches to, use the carriage bolts but you can initially hang the support with a nail. For the sandbox I would use only nails. However, all nails should be twist shank or ring shank to prevent their working out. The carriage bolts should be used wherever you need strength for support and safety. The wood should definitely be treated. Good luck.
for anything that is supporting weight and taking constant abuse you need to use the carriage bolts, they want work free. I would also go with the pressure treated wood. The new treated wood is treated with sodium something (i cant remember the word now for the life of me), Basically it is salt treated, instead of arsenic treated. However the eye protection is still a good idea when cutting it as the salt will burn like crazy if it gets into your eye.
use the carrage bolts and pressure treated lumber

i built a swingset with these in 94 my kid outgrew it . we disassembled it and moved it to my brothers and his kids are still using it the frame has outasted swings that were origonly hunng on it
Bolts allow you to disassemble it and move it to a new location, and are easy to inspect yearly and tighten if required.

Pressure treated is usually green, and contains arsenic. Wear breathing protection when cutting, and I wouldn't want my kids touching it, breathing it after the fact.

I built a kit last year made by ';rainbowplay.com'; Quoting their web page:

---

Cedar, Redwood, and Cunninghamia are also naturally decay resistant, which means they do not have to be treated with possibly toxic chemicals to last for years outdoors.

---

I live near Toronto, Canada, so we get hot humid summers and a couple feet of snow in winter too. Fort is doing well.
Don't use nails, they will work loose.

Stick with the carriage bolts. A little loc-tite should keep them from working loose. And even if they do, simply tighten them up.

Pressure treated wood is more weather resistant.

How much does it cost for a full set of acrylic pink and white gel nails?

I went and got my nails done today and got the acrylic pinik and white gel nails. Although they did a great job they charged me 65$. I am thinking I should call tommorow and ask to speak to the owner. On the board it said fourty and up...I thoughthe said it was going to be 55$ which I thought was expensive but then he rang me up for 65$. I guess I should have said something then but I felt weird. So with a tip it cost me 75$. Is that expensive or normal? How much does it cost for a full set of acrylic pink and white gel nails?
Which one did you get? Acrylic nails, or gel nails? I don't understand which one you are asking about. Either way, it's more expensive for gel nails, though you did pay a lot for them. Then again, it also depends on where you had them done, and what the salon was like - was it a spa, a regular nail salon, etc. Some salons do charge that much, and more! If you feel that you paid too much, then maybe try to find another salon to get them filled since this one will probably be a little costly?

I hope you like them! Enjoy!

You will be able to find very good, highly skilled techs on these two salon locators. I highly recommend using them. But, be prepared to pay more than your typical discount salon on the street corners and in strip malls charge. The end result is soooo worth it though. Now, I cannot guarantee that every single tech on these locators is a 'great' nail tech but I do know that most of them are very good or they wouldn't be listed on either one - especially the cnd.com site, in the first place:

The naming of your business could be one of the most important decisions you will make. A name's originality and legal availability will create a real asset value of its own, as it becomes marketed and gains market acceptance.

The name you choose will become the focal point of all the benefits and features that relate to your business. Customers will be able to find and refer others to it in the future.

Since any names that are suggested here may already be owned by another party, I wanted to go a different route...

I suggest either hiring a name creation firm or get together with your friends and/or family and throw a ';name party'; %26amp; have everyone bounce some ideas around. Compile a listing of names that you like the best. Once you have that list, do as much free research as you can before you delve into comprehensive research.

I listed some links where you can do some preliminary name checking. However, please be aware that this is merely scratching the surface of what's out there.

Only comprehensive research will tell you if the name is truly available. But, these links are free %26amp; a great place to start, so I'd try them out first.

Comprehensive research consists of looking at marks that are similar in Sound, Appearance or Meaning in the pending %26amp; registered Federal AND State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files.

There are other sites that offer free searching capabilities in conjunction with their commercial services, so I'm not able to post those links due to the Yahoo! TOS. You'll also want to check domain names %26amp; yellow pages, so simply do a search for ';free domain name search'; and ';national yellowpages'; and the appropriate links will pop up.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success %26amp; happiness in all your ventures!

  • I just got my license to do nails, how much do i charge for a full set?

Depends where you live. If you are trying to compete with vietnamese shops, that use nail damaging drills - you better low ball. Just starting out you won't be able to charge $70, unless you work at a dayspa. I would try to get into a cute little nail shop that has an established clientele and lots of walk in/foot traffic. Since you won't have established clients you'll be able to take the over flow. I wouldn't charge more than $25 until you are able to get your speed up. Unless of course, the shop has an established rate, then you go with their price. Remember, you'll be responsible for rent, but some shops will allow you to work but want 40% or so from your charges instead of rent. You'll have to figure out which will be more cost effective for you.I just got my license to do nails, how much do i charge for a full set?
The places I visit usually charge $17-$20 for a full set (depending on if its glass nails, solar, gel, etc.). And for refills, around $13-$15. I'm from New Orleans and the nail techs there used to do designs free with any full set or refill and business there was ALWAYS crowded. Hope I helped :)I just got my license to do nails, how much do i charge for a full set?
at first, advertise and ask for 5 dollars or so cheaper than your competitors

if anything, break even with each customer

then after you have some regulars

    match your competitors' price

if not a few dollars cheaper
Go check what the prices are for nail shops.

I don't know the price - but how did you get your license without knowing the prices of a full set? (lol)
depends on ur region do some spy work at nail shops ard u charge a lil less then after u got a client base charge same level wit couple perks and maybe sell a lil weed on the side
    $25

    Great price.

    More customers.

    Happy you.

I've just bought some UV Nails of ebay, I have the UV gel too, will it set without a UV light?

    I don't think so.

Because when my mom when to the nail salon to do UV nails,

she HAD to have the UV light, because if you don't have it,

it woll not completely dry on to your nails.I've just bought some UV Nails of ebay, I have the UV gel too, will it set without a UV light?
They are called UV Nails because it requires the UV light.

I got a full set of acrylic nails - how do I remove them?

The place I got them done at was a place run by vietnamese people who had like two words to say to me, but chittered back and forth in vietnamese the whole time. He never told me about taking them off.

Do I go back to him? Will he charge me if I do? How much?

Or is there a way at home I can remove them?

Thanks.I got a full set of acrylic nails - how do I remove them?
They will charge you. You can remove them yourself by buying some Acetone from a beauty supply store and soaking them off on your own. If you don't have the time and energy to do this, just go back. They should charge b/t $10-$15 to remove them. Don't pay more than this. And stay out of those salons. They are SO rude and unprofessional...I refuse to give people my money when they talk about me in another language the whole time! Hope this helps.I got a full set of acrylic nails - how do I remove them?
It's best to have them removed at a nail salon because they have the skill, the tools and (hopefully) the patience. However, it doesn't sound as if you really want to go back to the place where you initially got them. So, you can remove them yourself but you will need to do it carefully - and please do not smoke or have anybody around keeping you company who does smoke. You have to use acetone and it's very flammable. Since removal is a multi-step process, you should look at one of the sites I've referenced below - both give great instructions. I had acrylic nails put on and after about 3 months, decided I didn't want the hassle any longer; I wasn't able to get them off myself, so I went to a nail salon. And, YES, they charge you to take them off. And it also hurts if you get somebody who is rough. After you have them taken off, take good care of your nails - it takes time for them to become healthy again because of the process they've been through and they'll also be sensitive for awhile.
everyone tells me to go back and have them removed it but everytime i had mine done (only twice!) i would get under the acrylic and slowly lift it off. IT'S HORRIBLE! and your nails will look so bad. it can hurt really bad and take days sometimes. i tried soaking it in acetone and it didnt work. :[

i'd go back and have them take it off. you may spend a little more, but it wont completely ruin your nails.
you can go to a place that has stuff for you nails and should have stuff you can put like in a bowl and soak your fingers in and theyll come off
get some acetone from a nearby beauty supply........

If you use glue-on nails is it ok to immed. apply a new set or do I have to let nails 'breathe' for a time?

I think u should really let ur nails air out and then apply a new set.If you use glue-on nails is it ok to immed. apply a new set or do I have to let nails 'breathe' for a time?
you can put on another set if you want, but it would help your nails if you let them grow out a bit b-4 you put another set on.

    Full set of Acrylic Nails?

Ok i am getting my nails done at a beauty school from students.

I am getting them for school and i want to know is it worth it? Is it hard to write%26gt; How long do they last before your nail grows. Is it painful to get them off.

    1) it grows while you have the nails off about 2/3 weeks you nail starts to grow in

Should I get a full set, or just tips? Fake nails!!?

My mom just called and told me that she made an appointment for me to get my nails done, but I dont know if I want a full set or just tips? The full set tends to not come off as easy, but the Tips are prettier. I just dont know!!!! Man, its been so long since I had my nails done. I am excitedShould I get a full set, or just tips? Fake nails!!?
Full set and tips are the same thing. Are you talking about gel or acrylic? Gel is way better. Much prettier and stronger.Should I get a full set, or just tips? Fake nails!!?
id be very carefull with fake nails on becuase one time i went swimming 3 days after i got my nails done with my friend and she told me not 2 take them off. so i got in the pool with them on and we were having a race and we started on 2 different sides so when her head was going past my knee and my nail scraped on her shoulder so then three weeks later my nail finnally fell off.

  • ATTN: LADIES!! I just took off my gel nails. What should I do now. I'm getting a new set tomorrow. thanks?

I'm getting a full set tomorrow and would like to know what to do in the mean time to give my nails some air and still keep them healthy. Just looking for some input. Thanks Ladies. And guys if you are answering this question-More power to ya!!!ATTN: LADIES!! I just took off my gel nails. What should I do now. I'm getting a new set tomorrow. thanks?
Cuticle oil is nice to condition the skin around the nail bed. Then let your nails rest until tomorrow. Good luck! :]ATTN: LADIES!! I just took off my gel nails. What should I do now. I'm getting a new set tomorrow. thanks?
I dont quite understand why you would take them off just to get a new set tomorrow? let your nails have a break for about a month or more depending on how damaged they are massage almond oil into the nail bed to help them grow back stronger, then think about getting another set.
I would apply a great olive oil to the bed of my nail and cuticles. I would give my nails a break from gel/acrylic every 3 months and rest for 1 month before getting a new set.

I got my nails done 2 weeks ago, should I get a new set or refill? And what's a refill?

Yes it's time for a refill. Refills are when your nails have grown out and you go to the nail salon so that they refill the nails with acrylic.I got my nails done 2 weeks ago, should I get a new set or refill? And what's a refill?
its called a fill-in, and yes its time for one of those. The first time you get your nails done, you get a full set, and afterward every two weeks you get a fill-in. Fill-ins are less expensive and take less time, you dont get them took off and put back on,that would be huge pointless waste of money and time, never heard of someone doing that before. so yes every two weeks, continue to go back and get fill-ins.I got my nails done 2 weeks ago, should I get a new set or refill? And what's a refill?
refill they go in and put nail product where your nails have grown, they reshape and repolish your nails and they look like they did the day you got them, ...its normally cheaper to get a refill..i only got new ones after about six months because my nails are flat and after that much time wearing acrylics my real nails are getting filed on the sides...
if you got the white tips put on then the outer cover on the nail is the fill so you can go every two weeks or so and they will buff it off and put this powder stuff on it and airbrush or paint it if necessary.its gonna be like the same thing when you first got it done
well it depends if they look damaged then get a refill. and a refill is just simply geting them re done. exept if u break just one nail and the rest are still good, u can get a REFILL on that nail only. hope u get it now;]
Get a refill. You haven't had them that long. And a refill is when they fill in the little bit of nail that has grown in the past few days.

Depends. Do you have cute feet?

Re: the phrase 'setting my teeth on edge' why does the scratch of a nail on glass causes a teeth sensation?

In the days of old-fashioned blackboards a little impurity in chalk screeching on the board would cause nearly all kids to cringe. Why is the sensation felt in the area of the teeth (particularly upper teeth)?Re: the phrase 'setting my teeth on edge' why does the scratch of a nail on glass causes a teeth sensation?
It's due to the frequency of the sound. It sets up a resonance from the cochlea and is transmitted through the nerves into the teeth.Re: the phrase 'setting my teeth on edge' why does the scratch of a nail on glass causes a teeth sensation?
It doesn't, but I mourn the passing of the blackboard. Just to make the gesture would subdue the most unruly class.
It could be a ';referred'; sensation (e.g. like feeling sensation in a missing limb, as was often reported by soldiers after WWI %26amp; II).

The brain associates the sound to a physical sensation and ';expects'; to receive nerve impulses from the teeth.

The question then is, whether or not the body responds sympathetically by activating nerves in the teeth. It is often said that when the (unconscious) brain ';imagines'; pain, it is as real as the pain itself.
I don't know but cardboard and toilet tissue has this effect on me.
It is the effect of the sound wave at that frequency. Younger people are more sensitive to higher frequencies and so more likely to cringe at squeaky noises than teacher. Your upper jawbone is connected to your skull near the ear, and so picks up the more extreme sound waves.

Believe it or not, the police in Manchester are now experimenting with broadcasting very high pitched noise to disperse gangs of youths - the pitch is too high to affect most adults but apparently excruciating to teenagers. Sounds a bit sinister to me....
maybe your teeth relate to the noise as it's similar to grinding your teeth - so your teeth 'feel' the pain of the blackboard?

Can you have your gel nails removed and then a new set put on right away?

are my nails going to be ok if i do this? im going to have the nails removed at the salon im just worried they may be to sensitive to put back on right away...Can you have your gel nails removed and then a new set put on right away?
I don't quite understand why you would want to do this in the first place. Real UV gel nails are not a good choice for the casual wearer since they must be filed off. They cannot be soaked off as acrylics can be. Thus, they are better suited for someone who wants to keep them on for the long term. But to answer your question regardless of your motives in doing so, yes, you can have them reapplied right away. Can you have your gel nails removed and then a new set put on right away?
no worries you will be fine you can do that. wont be that sensitve because the salon is going to take them off the right way and not just pull them off there going to soak them off . so your nails will be fine.
    ya

... anyway they will look better!

i am pretty sure you can becuase i have seen people with it before(i think so)
Yes , you can get french manicre for fill .

There are 3 ways making French manicure for fill :

    - Airbrush on ( look nice but being chip off faster )

-Hand paint on: not look perfect but last longer .

-pink %26amp;white powder put on , this is the best option they look nice and last much longer . the only disadvantage is more expensive and you must have experience person perform It ( very hard to do good job ) otherwise It will look thick and horrible if you have wrong Nail tech.

Should it be illegal in Australia to set fire to a bit of fabric nailed to a stick?

http://au.news.yahoo.com/080129/21/15o1h鈥?/a>Should it be illegal in Australia to set fire to a bit of fabric nailed to a stick?
Oh no lets not burn a bit of fabric!!!

Are people in this world for real??? I am an Australian and I really dont care what people do to a piece of cloth. It means nothing to me and I love my country.

I think the world is facing far more serious problems like child abuse, murder and so on.......................Should it be illegal in Australia to set fire to a bit of fabric nailed to a stick?
I am not saying it is right OR wrong to burn a flag... but I will say one thing. It is NOT just a bit of fabric on a stick. That fabric means something, and so does burning it. I can give another example to show what I mean. A friend of mine somehow or another ended up with an abusive man as a boyfriend. He was great at first, but slowly and surely he began to show his true self. One day he was ticked off at her and he stabbed her favorite teddy bear. She instinctual knew she had to get her butt out of there, and wisely did so before she got hurt. Oh, but it was just some fabric stuffed with cotton! Well, obviously it wasn't.

My point is this- when someone burns a flag, they are sending a message. There is meaning in their action. So it is oversimplifying the situation to infer that it is just ';a bit of fabric nailed to a stick.'; That is far, far from the point. You may as well say that someone saying they will kill you is not a threat because they didn't ';do'; anything. BUT- if you still want to argue that it is wrong to make it illegal, what I just said can also be applied to that argument. If burning a flag is sending a message, then it is communication, or in other words- speech. Does Australia have freedom of speech? That is your real argument, rather than the weak idea that a flag is just fabric.
Of course not. While the flag represents the country, the burning of it as political expression honors the freedom that it represents.
A flag is more than just ';a bit of fabric nailed to a stick.'; It's an important symbol to many countries, tribes, families, etc.

In extreme cases, flag-burning could even seem like treason.
If you don't like the flag and the country it represents, then feel free to leave it at any time.
If you are referring to our flag, then YES!

If you actually mean a bit of fabric nailed to a stick, then probably not.
its not about the fabric but what it stands for. i'm Australian and am not particularly patriotic but i can see how it offends most people... people who fight for the right to live in a free world and all be united under one government, one anthem and one flag
As far as I am concerned, burning the flag of any nation should be treated for exactly what it is, an act of treason. In some cases throughout history burning a flag meant a declaration of war.
    you mean burning a flag?
    NO

they paid for it they can burn it

wast of money i think to burn it

    i wouldn't do it
A piece of coloured cloth a country it does not make!

Being Aboriginal the current aussie flag means nothing to me, except as a leftover of colonial rule.

I have forebearers who fought under that flag in times of war only to return to their country of origin as non-citizens.

  • How do u take fake nails off i have a full set && i need them off!!! first time...?

i need them off immediatly...How do u take fake nails off i have a full set %26amp;%26amp; i need them off!!! first time...?
go to the nail shop and have them soak ur nails......it'll come off doesnt take to long. How do u take fake nails off i have a full set %26amp;%26amp; i need them off!!! first time...?
First, trim off the tops as much as you can. Most fake nails have a protective cover atop them, so take a nail file and file across the nail (not at the tip, where the white or pink part is).

Then, prepare a bowl of mail polish remover. Dip your nails in and wait about a minute. This should make the nails soft and easy to take off.
You can go to the same place you got them on and they can take them off. Or you can soak your fingers in Asetone. It is inside of nail polish remover. Good luck. same thing happened to me and I hated them!! :o))
Soak them in nail polish removal then they should soften to were you can take a metal nail filler and pry them off starting from the bottom up.
well soak them in nail polish remover that always works
Dip your finger one at a time into some nail polish remover... like a cup of it and it should dissolve the glue.
soak your fingers in nail polish remover they will come off

    Gel-Set Nails? and Fills?

I want to get my gel set nails done over. When doing so should I ask for a ';Fill'; Or should I just say I want them done over. I hear people say ';Fill'; alot and I'm wondering what that means?Gel-Set Nails? and Fills?
';fill'; simply means refill....which means that the nail manicurist will ';refill'; your nails...basically you will get a new set of nailsGel-Set Nails? and Fills?
you just want a fill, for one thing it's (usually) cheaper, and you can still get them done the way you want
If this is your first set, ask for a filling. This is when they file around your nailbed, and add gel on that area- where your nail grows from. This ';fills-in'; the spot that grew out so they look new again.
fill, because this means ur getting them done over
Well I do nails and I say get a fill in because it's quicker, cheaper, and you would not have to worry about starting over you can keep getting fills untill your nails starts lifting, now if thier lifting then it's time to soak off and get a knew set.
fill means they fill in the gap between the nails and where its grown out. Done over is where they take them off completely and start over.

    What is full set nails?

Full set of nails is just for your hands. The technician will put fake nails and apply whatever you want, whether its acrlyic or solar nails. Just go into nail shop and say you want ';full set of nails and specify the type of top coating and say I also want pedicure';...... They will know what you are talking about. Now, if you do not want fake nails, just say ';give me a manicure (hands) and pedicure (feet)....

How to remove nails set in wood trim to remove the trim w/o damage?

I need to replace the operator hardware in 3 windows, and must remove some narrow trim to get at and replace the hardware.

Nails are set into wood. I removed putty but can't figure out how to get the nails out.

Nailing them in further with a nail set may not work.

Trying to use a crowbar to remove the trim without first removing the nails may damage trim.

Suggestions? How to remove nails set in wood trim to remove the trim w/o damage?
I seen your ';additional details'; and yes..actualy you can drive the nails through with a nail set..these are trim nails and have next to no head on them..all trim on windows are nailed to the wooden window frame..then to the walls too..trim nails are supoposed to hit wood or the trim wouldn't stay snug..just drive the nails through the trim and they will sink into the frame too..You do not have to set them in the frame wood..just enough to go through the trim..then pull the trim off..the nails then will be protruding from the window frame and you pull them out after the trim is off.. I have done EVERY job like this I have done with trim on it needing to be saved..IT WILL WORK..How to remove nails set in wood trim to remove the trim w/o damage?
Get a nailset that has a long tapered tip and knock the nail on through. If you get the nail nearly or all the way through, you should be able to get it off without breaking. Just dont forget to run your knife blade through the caulk (if any) where the trim meets the wall to separate it.
once you have pried off the trim, just PULL the nails out through the backside of the trim with pliers or better yet, round head end-cutter. re-putty the holes you have removed the putty from(you didn't need to remove the putty)
If the nails are set into the trim, you are not going to get them out without damaging the trim. Just use a small prybar and be gentle. Let the nails pull through the trim. This is an easy fix once removed.
Cut caulking line at edge of trim with a razor knife. use builders shims and drve them in between wall and trim then use a flat bar to finish prying off the trim. take your time and use many shims to keep from damaging the trim

    good luck
You should try to get a reciprocating saw blade between the trim and the backing to cut the nails. Use the flattest pry bar you can find, not a crow bar.
pry off the trim carefully and then use pliers and pull them out from the back you will not damage the boards that way just a hole the size of the nail head and you can use them to re nail

yes now that i read it again the thing you are referring to is not for setting nails that is for locating pilot hole center point when drilling holes for screws as when installing hinges on new door frame etc

it is tapered at the point where it meets the counter sink hole for a very desirable centering

Certainly a ';handle'; might be OK, but a Nail set used carefully is pretty hard to miss with a hammer, and the force needed should be minimal anyway, to assume less damage to any stock. I used to own a PIN setter that was spring loaded, and a single nail Gun that was operated with a 22 bullet, but haven't a clue as to what you're talking about.

I'd be interested to know however, though countersinking nails has never strictly been something I've done other than for trim, with brads or finishing nails.
The good old fashioned name is ';pin punch';. To countersink anything, I've always used drill bits.
Just this one time I will give you my best kept secret and not even charge you my normal dollar two ninety eight.

An intake valve makes a great nail set and in 30 years I have yet to hit my hand while setting nails. And I bet one of your friends has a box of them in their garage.

    Dan
If this is just for a small job, I would just get a nail setter, not an expensive big tool. Its just a strong metal piece that you put on the head of a finish nail, then sink it in further with a hammer. They sell different sizes for tapping in different nails, but an everage sized nail set will do many different nails.
go to lowe's or home depot they should have one
Amazing how many different kinds of nailsets there are. I happen to prefer simple ones, but I bought some that are color-coded and it helps me to dig the right size out of my tool belt. Anyway, check out this photo gallery of nailset types from This Old House. Your spring-loaded guy is in there:

    nail set, self-centering

I use these for setting brads in the corners of picture frames. The only advantage to ';self centering'; is that it won't slip off the nail and make a punch mark next to the nail. Otherwise, I use a straight nail set.

I just got my first set of acrylic nails, how long should I wait before getting them filled?

In order to maintain them properly so they look nice and so you don't get nail fungus, they need to be filled every two to three weeks. Depends on how fast your nails grow.I just got my first set of acrylic nails, how long should I wait before getting them filled?

  • 'Lumley set for heroine's welcome'; oh dear...another nail in the coffin for Labour?

After the nightmare of losing Norwich North, being lackadaisical and harum-scarum over drugs for the first western disease (swine flu) of the new millennium and other wee (and not so wee) hardships New Labour are going through, bet they didn't need another Daily Mail-like 'isn't-she-lovely' story with favourite blonde stormer Joanna Lumley (born India, May 1, 1946)...'Like a good wine, she just gets better with age. So move over Gordon Brown - let's make Joanna Lumley PM!', so saith a Mail columnist early in the summer. Looks like she'll pop up as frequently as summat with refuses to be flushed down the john during the next few months, and the more New Labour remains clueless, the more stories, half stories and just plain comments about the New Avenger's aesthetics will be used to hurt them more.'Lumley set for heroine's welcome'; oh dear...another nail in the coffin for Labour?
It all could of been handled much better and avoided if the govt, came down on the side of logic over the gurhka's yonks ago. I think she's far to clever to go anywhere near that lot in the commons.

Actors do occasionally make good politicans, however reagun and arnie well there we go......'Lumley set for heroine's welcome'; oh dear...another nail in the coffin for Labour?
Lord it is so good to see some plain reasoning in deliciously interesting English for a change!

Do you think they realise they are deeply in the coffin zone?

The thought of Ms Lumley perched on topif said coffin, sipping champagne, brings a twinkle to mine eye!
The lady certainly deserves a hero's welcome, As for our present ';government';, I hold them in contempt, as they do our service personnel, past and present !
i agree about labour but i like joanna lumley.
wonder if he`ll pre empt Dave by asking Ms Lumley to stand as a candidate....

Fake nails.. how long do a gel set, with french tips last?

how long do a gel set, with french tips last?Fake nails.. how long do a gel set, with french tips last?
they last as long as you want them to--as long as you keep them maintained....but just a warning.... when it comes to gel nails there is NO way to remove them unless you have them electrically drilled off.... they dont soak off as acrylics wouldFake nails.. how long do a gel set, with french tips last?
Depends on how well they are done, but usually 3-4 weeks, depending on your dailly activities
Your to get your nails done every two weeks ....
good choice gel is the way to go usually last 8 days to a week depending on your health and how fast your nails grow
If you go to get your nails done professionally with fake nails then they will put on this gel stuff and the french will last for as long as your fake nails last, In other words the french doesent go away its permanent. I would definitely recommend getting fake nails. I got them for a Senior High Banquet, And they were beautiful. I got sooo many compliments, and when you scratch your skin it doesent damage your skin and it doesent hurt, so it really protects your skin.

Well I hope this helps! Good luck! :)
that depends on how you take care of them. if you get them filled every two weeks and don't break or chip any of them they could last forever
    SKANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just kidding everyone she's my sister don't report me.
depends on how fast your nails grow. they can last 3-4 weeks without you needing to get them filled. to be honest, i just remove them after that period of time because when you get them filled they just start looking worse and worse. you can see the fill line and the tips just get longer and longer and you cant cut them without them looking bad.
If they put the gel on top of your manicure then your manicure will not chip. Plus, the gel will make your nails always stay shiny. But look out if you go to a tanning bed, they'll turn yellow.

When getting a full set of fingernails applied what is a good length for the nails to be?

It depends on your lifestyle. I type on a computer all day long and stay active in sports so I keep my fingernails short but still long enough to get a french manicure:) Hope this helps you out! When getting a full set of fingernails applied what is a good length for the nails to be?

Honda Civic - 1996 EX - what's a good set of tires to buy for my car that nails won't easily puncture?

Last set I bought were Yokohama's. The city streets here in Houston are awful - nothing but pot holes and construction everywhere. I've had 4 nails in my tires in the last year.Honda Civic - 1996 EX - what's a good set of tires to buy for my car that nails won't easily puncture?
All quality name-brand tires have about the same resistance to punctures. Uniroyal a few years ago came out with its ';Nailguard'; lineup promising greater puncture resistance. Unfortunately it didn't work and those tires were quickly discontinued. Pick a good brand, keep them properly inflated - check regularly - and keep your eyes on the road more than one car length ahead of you is about all you can do.Honda Civic - 1996 EX - what's a good set of tires to buy for my car that nails won't easily puncture?
    Nails will puncture ANY tire.

Even tractor tires. Get used to it.
I don't know of any tires that are in any way nail-resistant(other than run flats). I'd say your best bet is to either stick with cheap tires that won't hurt too much to replace or just keep patching up the holes at any tire shop for 5 or 10 bucks.
The best, most expensive tires, like michelins, are much more resistant to punctures and flats. Its the cheaper tires like coopers, etc. that can go flat if you hit a slight pot hole. I've had michelins on my jeep for 5 years (the same 4 tires) without so much as a low tire....the side walls are like truck tires and are very rugged.

Whats the best set of false nails?

and where can i buy them in the uk?Whats the best set of false nails?
u dont buy fake nails u get them done at a nail parlor!!! theres no such thing as a good pair of fake nails!

When you get your acrylic nails taken off can you get a new set the same day?

will the people at the salon do it?When you get your acrylic nails taken off can you get a new set the same day?
If you have them professionally removed, like soaked in Acetone, then yes. If you pry them off, you should wait a few days, as prying removes layers of your nail as well. You should have them removed periodically to allow your own nails to grow out the damage artifical nails can cause. When you get your acrylic nails taken off can you get a new set the same day?
Of course you can. But it's really damaging on your nails because you nails needs the time to breath. If you haven't noticed, when you take your acrylic nails off, you nails are usually really weak and thin. So if you keep getting it done, it doesn't have the time for your nails to be free and heal. So it is recommended that when you take them off, just do a simple manicure first and then go back for another set later on. Hope this helps.
yeah you can, i do it all the time, if you took them off yourself and they are tender than maybe you should wait, but if they aren't than go for it.
i honestly dont know but i just got my nils done and it was just 1 day after i tore my olld nails off they are black with white skulls in the corner, and in one eye of the skull is a pink dimond
    Yes you can.

Has anyone used uv nail gel? i`m having trouble getting it to set with my uv lamp?

ive used it and i hated it so i threw it away yayHas anyone used uv nail gel? i`m having trouble getting it to set with my uv lamp?
Hi I work with NSI builder gel and find that its the best that I have used. The gel does set under the UV lamp, its probably that you've not left it under for the required amount of time (each manufacturer recommends a different duration), or that you're not properly removing the residue. This isnt required after each layer, just the final layer. Wipe-off as its sometimes called can be purchased cheaply from any beauty supplier, or from the same supplier as your gel. Just make sure that you do approx 3 layers which are thin, rather tahn one or two thick layers. Also helps to keep them looking natural. Good luck and stick with it.Has anyone used uv nail gel? i`m having trouble getting it to set with my uv lamp?
Could be a few problems. The simplest thing is to make sure you wipe off the residue. Gel doesn't completely harden. It has what's called a 'slip layer' that is used to make the next layer of gel adhere. Once you've finished your nails, you need to wipe this slip layer off with finishing wipe.

If you are already doing that, the problem could be that you're layering the gel on too thickly. It's best to do 3 or 4 thinner layers than 1 or 2 thick layers. If that fails, then you probably need either 1) a stronger lamp, or 2) new bulbs in your current lamp. Keep in mind that different gels require different wattage, so if you've recently switched product, you should check for minimum wattage requirements.
depends on the make i do bio sculpture and they are really good are u sure its not just the residue thats left ontop. wipe it with sanitiser. if its not then u need a new lamp with stronger bulbs

  • Hello I want to set up a dartboart, but i live in a student house and cant use nails. Are there any other ways?

Go to Home Depot or Lowe's and get a 4x8 sheet of Celotex (or equivalent fiberboard). About $10. Attach your dartboard to that and set it against the wall. The fiberboard will catch darts missing the target (like in case you have dorky friends over) and save the wall from looking like someone hit the wall with a shotgun.Hello I want to set up a dartboart, but i live in a student house and cant use nails. Are there any other ways?
glue it, lolHello I want to set up a dartboart, but i live in a student house and cant use nails. Are there any other ways?

I don't see why a nail hole is a big issue. Most people renting houses to students are happy if the walls are still there afterwards.

There are some hooks that will work that just make a small hole in the sheet rock. They are made for women to hang pictures with but they only make a very small hole and can be removed easy.

They sell them in Home Depot and Harbor Freight, probably other places too.
what are you going to do when the darts hit the wall, it will leave the same mark as a nail would.

solution: take your mattress, lean it against the wall, get a wire hanger, loop the dartboard hanging ring, poke the other end of the wire through the mattress then crimp it.

    -no respect for mattresses
    no more nails

you just wont be able to take it down again

    EVER

    MUHAHAHA
I am a big fan of those 3M plastic hooks that go on the wall with removable ';Command'; strip tape. They make all types and there are very narrow ones that would be good for what you are trying to do. Also, you may want to mount some cork sheeting (available at the Home Depot) behind the dart board if you are worried about holes in the wall. Come to think of it, maybe you should try another hobby all together :) Good luck.
Use lots of blobs of blue tack or those double sides sticky tabs.

Don't do anything too permanent or you won't get your deposit back when you leave.
    Hercules hooks!

They are fantastic - hold a lot of weight - yet only put a pinhole sized hole in the wall..

    www.herculeshook.com
You could knock up a lightweight easel or A frame that would lean against the wall and mount the board on it.
    no
    Blue Tack !! =D
Use a 5 gal-bucket cut 2x4 to height place 2x4 in ready mix concrete let it harden attach plywood backer thats cut to size of your dart board or just alittle wider than your dart board then mount your board to ply wood.I hope this helps.
hang it from a string from the ceiling against the wall
    use a nailless dartboard setterupper.

Nail question? when uve had a new acrylic set put on and then u have infills well wot then?

after infills and a maintenance do u take them off and start agen? plz help? thanksNail question? when uve had a new acrylic set put on and then u have infills well wot then?
you can usually get them filled three or so times before they have to be taken off ---Nail question? when uve had a new acrylic set put on and then u have infills well wot then?
depending on how well you look after your nails you can keep just having infils OR you can soak them off and have them re-done.

If you use sunbeds or work with harsh chemicals you may find that the acrylic will discolour over time, in which case it is preferable to have them soaked off and re-done.

when you have your acrylic nails removed make sure that the technician soaks them in acetone rather than using a drill which can be very damaging to the nails (leaving them feeling thin and often sore)

I prefer not to remove mine too often as the acetone is very drying.

If you look after your nails and have no cracks, lifting or infections then I would reccommend simply continuing having in-fills every 2-4 weeks (depending on how fast your nails grow) rather than having them removed.

Please be aware that if you have any lifting it is important to get this repaired asap as it is possible to develop infections and even mould (yes, i know, that's gross) between the nail bed and the acrylic.

Besides being pretty disgusting it can, though usually only in VERY extreme cases become quite serious if left untreated.
as a nail tech i would never have them on as they knack up your own nails without a doubt have seen the damage just stick to wearing dark colour's to make your nail's look longer and anyway short nail's are in at the moment
Keep getting them infilled and maintained until you want them off, if they start looking tacky take them off. ALWAYS take them off by filing the surface then soaking in acetone, do this alternatively, or you will bugger up your natural nails.

Remember they are jewels not tools!
Thats up to you. you can take them off and start over or you can have them maintained on a regular basis, having them trimmed and filled in. When you do decide to take them off be aware that your nails will be weak, thin and brittle. You probably should wait to have them re-done before you decide to have them completely re- done. if you want to have them on for a while, your best bet is to have them filled in and trimmed regularly.
You have the fills done so the acrylic covers the entire nail. You never start over unless you break one. Your natural nails should eventually outgrow the tips and all you will have is an overlay of acrylic.
You can have them filled in upto 3 times every 2/3 weeks depending on how fast your nails grow.
dis iz a kwestion dat I dont understand ive not ad eny probs wit a infil b4. Apoligies for not reading like an english speaking person!

    From Marz
You can have them on for about 3- 4 months like with fill ins and then you should replace them. Like once you can start to see your nails through the acrylic but like a yellowish color them i would remove them and get a new set.

What do girls think about a guy who gets his nails done like a girl ( full set of fingernails and polished)?

Sometimes it just makes me feel better... That doesn't make me gay does it?What do girls think about a guy who gets his nails done like a girl ( full set of fingernails and polished)?
you're not gay unless you're into GUYS.... and not all gay guys have their nails done! so if you are wondering if you are gay.. ask yourself if you are attracted to guys more than you are to girls.

but are you getting colors? or just a clear coat? and are you getting a full set.. like fake acrylic nails? have you asked any of your girl friends about it? but if you are getting full-on manicures with the acrylic nails and colors...... i might find it a little weird... but then again... also jealous because your nails probably look better than mine ;p

but i definitely don't mind a guy with clean and well-kept nails.. fingers or toes ;)What do girls think about a guy who gets his nails done like a girl ( full set of fingernails and polished)?
Of course it doesn't make you gay. Gay means when you like other guys. But I have to admit it would make you appear gay. Don't worry about what people think, it makes you feel good. If its makes you feel than by all means keep doing it. Besides, girls like guys with clean, nice nails (at least I do). Don't worry about it, be yourself.
If a guy gets a full set with color, he's usually either gay or a crossdresser. And I do mean ';full set'; like acrylic tips. Even without the tips, men who get color on their nails usually fall into one of those categories. The only exception I've seen is punk, goth, etc guys painting their nails black. And then, they don't GET them done, they do them theirselves. Metrosexual guys are known to get their nails done and such, but usually it's just a manicure, maybe with some clear polish. A full set with color? That's definitely a girly pick-me-up.

For you to feel that girly pick-me-up and be unsure enough about it to ask this question, maybe you should take a look at yourself and see if this is something you want to look into. Good luck!
    :-D

    :-D

    LOL.........sorry, can't stop laffing!
That's what some people would call metro- or metrosexual. If you like it, do it. It's not something that I would do, but that's your life. If people don't like it, tell 'em to go get stuffed!!!

Being gay means you like other men, instead of women.
I don't think that means you are gay.

Gay means you like guys, not clean nails. Goodness.
I heard of straight guys doing it, just haven't seen any. Kinda like Bigfoot.

If you're not gay, you're definitely a little too metro.
    MOST GIIIRLS THINL HE'S GAY...

    (BUT NOT ME)
    Acrylic nails? O_o

    if so, then yes.
    It sure does!
i'm gonna say gay. but you COULD be metro
Girls are gonna think you are gay wheather you are or not. There is no way I would even think about doing that.
I guess you can get it like once in a while. and i mean a WHILE. cause guys dont take care of themselves and they tend to have really gross feet. not so much hands though.
    dude i think that's gay..
I don't know if you are gay or not, I mean in order to be gay you have to like other men. You are the only one that can answer that question. I do think you might have gender identity issues. Do you also like to wear anything femine or dress that way to ';feel Better';, do you identify more with females than males ? Maybe you should talk to a professional, so that you can sort through your confusion~

    Good luck!
umm.... probably.... no offense, im a guy, and ive never had that weird desire. hmm... i would have 2 say grls thinks its gay.

What is the best way to remove a full set french manicure at home, without damaging your nails?

Dont remove them. What is the best way to remove a full set french manicure at home, without damaging your nails?
Soak them off with acetone (if they're gel or acrylic) nail polish remover. This will make your nails a little dry %26amp; somewhat brittle so put some type of polish like Sally Hanson Hard As Nails on them to strength them back up.What is the best way to remove a full set french manicure at home, without damaging your nails?
Sometimes acrylic acid helps. It might make your nails weak for a little while though.
Soak them off with fingernail polish remover.
Acetone is the best way to remove them, but I would recommend using a nail hardener nail polish for a few weeks after you remove them. Start by cutting your nails really short and keeping polish on them to keep them hard. Eventually, they will grow normal again and have the strength. Sally Hanson Strong as nails polish is the best (as mentioned in the post above me too)

    hope this helps
This will sound gross, I wash washing my dog with flea shampoo %26amp; they just kinda melted away.
You can try soaking them in nail polish remover with acetone. It does take awhile but be careful if you start pulling off the artificial nail because you could also remove top layer of your nail.
Try soaking your nails in acetone nail polish remover. It should deteriorate the artificial nails and you can slowly pry them off. This will probably take some time though.

    Good luck!
buy some acetone and soak your nails for like 15-30 minutes and then they should just peel right off. it's what the nail salons do.

How much would a full set for nails cost ??? ?

and for toes ???How much would a full set for nails cost ??? ?
About $15-$20 for a full set of acrylic nails. About the same for toes. If you want french tips, it will cost you a few dollars more. You shouldn't have to pay more than $25 for a full set. I know some places cost more, and if they do - just shop around. You'll find cheaper salons than that. How much would a full set for nails cost ??? ?
For acrylics? For nails, for your first set, it usually costs around thirty or forty. I'm not sure about toes. For painting, or manicures, at a good place it should usually be around thirty or less for both, depending on where you go. Pricing always varies so shop around a little bit!

It all depends on the nail salon you plan to go to.

I know alot of the ones in the Tri-State area cost about 20 dollars each and then touch ups the least are 15.

Check out the place your planning to go to, and make your desicion.
well in mass they cost like 25 bucks for acrylic nails.

    for both prolly 50 bucks

then more for french tip or design.

    same for toes.

    depends on the place actually.
in L.A., CA a good full set (in acrylic) is about $20

    A pedicure is about $12
In hawaii that'll cost you $80-$90.
    Around 30?

How much would it cost me to get a set of acrylic nails?

they usually cost like 35 dollars but be ready for an investment, you have to get a fill every 2 weeks to keep them looking good and that costs around 20 dollars and beware, when you take them off, your nails will be trashed! How much would it cost me to get a set of acrylic nails?
depends on where you are goig to go and get them done, usually about 30 to 40 dollars. How much would it cost me to get a set of acrylic nails?
It all depends on where you go. I get mine done for $25 and they look very good.
i don't know where you live, but here in Texas, if you go to a professional place, it usually costs about $25. if you have a beauty college in your city, that will be a lot cheaper. here it costs $8 for acrylics and a french manicure. keep in mind though, they are students, and they can mess up, but i have gone several times, to get my hair cut as well, and never once had a complaint. i even went while i was in labor!! good luck!!!
what's wrong with your real nails?

just take care of the ones you have, that's much more attractive.

uhm, but try searching on google for acrylic nails and the sites should show some prices.

  • How do i set up directions for a lab for this question, ';Whats the Density of Aluminum nails?

i am assigned to do a lab but required to make up my own set up directions for it.

The question is, Whats the Density of Aluminum nails?

can you please help me!How do i set up directions for a lab for this question, ';Whats the Density of Aluminum nails?
You've got to find the mass and volume of some nails. That can't be that hard. Select some nails and mass them. Then dump them into a graduated cylinder with some water in it so that the nails are submerged. Reading the difference in the volume of water before and after adding the nails will give you the volume by liquid displacement. Then compute the density in grams per cubic centimeter. Remember that 1 cubic centimeter is the same as 1 mL.

How do i set up directions for a lab for this question, ';Whats the Density of Aluminum nails?
You need to use the equation d=m/v or density = mass/volume

Weigh the nail to get the mass (g) and then use displacement in a graduated cylinder to find the volume (mL).

Displacement process: Fill a clean graduated cylinder with water to a height that would cover the nail. Record the value. Add the nail to the water and record the new higher value. The volume of the nail equals water and nail volume minus water alone volume.

Difference between a ';full set'; of solar nails and a ';refill';?

I have gotten solar nails before but never a ';refill'; I guess because I just never knew what it was. Can anyone explain? Thanks!Difference between a ';full set'; of solar nails and a ';refill';?
full set is putting all of them on from scratch. but nails grow. so after 3 weeks or so there is a gap between your finger and the bottom of the solar nail. you need a ';fill'; to fill in that gap. you can't get a refill unless you had a full set put on a few weeks before.

Im a guy and i want to get my nails done professionally at a beauty salon. I want a set of acrylic fingernails

I do get pedicures once a month but i have recently been thinking about getting a full set of fingernails. I get my pedicures at the first of each month. I had my last pedicure on sunday and im wearing red nail polish on my toes. Is this weird that i want to have acrylic fingernails?Im a guy and i want to get my nails done professionally at a beauty salon. I want a set of acrylic fingernails
Not really. I have a lot of musician friends that regularly get their nails professionally done. You're just ahead of the curve, others will be doing the same in a few years. Who would have thought 20 years ago that guys would be wearing earrings, talking on phones or styling their hair the way they do now?

Feel free to look and feel as fabulous as you wanna!!! =]Im a guy and i want to get my nails done professionally at a beauty salon. I want a set of acrylic fingernails
Yes it is wierd. Those are for girls.
Lol! If you want to get acrilycs, hey by all means go and get 'em! Im not one to judge... Honestly though, if i were a girl at the salon and i saw you come in and ask for acrilycs, i would think you were a bit off. But, you know what, i would eventually get over it. The decision is all yours. If you want your nails to look pretty, and want them all done, even hardcore girlie acrilycs, go and do it! Dont give a freakin rats butt about what peaople are going to think or say! You are your own person... go and fulfill your most wildest dreams!
Dude! That stuff is for girls.
    um, some what yes,

but i think i'd be kind of sexy :D
It's certainly not mainstream for guys to wear their nails long and painted, but hey, you can do what you want - it's a free world!

I know a number of guys that do this regularly. There are even many forums and discussions online about it (just try searching on any combination of the words ';men, guys, painted, nails, polish, nail';. I've even had my toenails painted on occasion (once by my g/f!) and it looks pretty decent if you're careful what color you use (brown, gray, silver, maybe blue or maroon).

I'm not sure why you would want to wear your nails painted. Most gals are not going to be real crazy about it. There are a few open-minded people that will not mind, you may even get a few compliments, but you'll have to endure the looks and negative comments from many others.

My advice if you just want to see how it feels is to go ahead and try it. Most salons will not care as long as you pay them (and don't forget to tip!). Wearing you fingernails long and brightly painted will probably not get you many job offers.
No, it's not that weird. I've heard of guys wanting to get weirder things done.

Who cares? It's pretty boring. A remix album? ';Remix'; is code for ';lack of ideas.';When is Nine Inch Nails Year Zero Pt II Album set to release?

Year Zero 2 might not even come out with the news of NIN possibly ending in the future and Trent going away for a while with a new marriage. You're more likely to see the TV series first than Year Zero 2.

How do I know when i need to get my nails filled or get a new set?

your nails will start to grow and you will see the bottoms of your real name by the cuticle. New sets are generally needed when the set has been split or damanged.

I'm worried my full-set gel nails are gonna fall off if i get water on them?

wat do i do--tell me guidelines for how long u can take a shower etc.I'm worried my full-set gel nails are gonna fall off if i get water on them?
if your gel nails are done properly they should stay on for at least a month, even two, until maybe one or two might loosen or break etc. you can stay in the shower for as long as you like. these nails will not come off, just go about your life as you always have. i mean you will have to get used to having longer nails, which takes a little time, not too long. and you will probably break one off by snapping it on something before it would ever fall off. the least of your worries with gel nails is water... hope this helps you out!I'm worried my full-set gel nails are gonna fall off if i get water on them?
Mine usually lasted a while after i got them..when you see enough of your real nail you should get them filled so they dont break off because thats a painful experience..

  • How long does nail acrylic take to dry without UV setting it?

A UV lamp is not used to 'dry' acrylic. UV lamps are used with UV gel, not acrylic. Anyway, on average it takes about 4 minutes for the acrylic to be hard enough to file.

NAIL TECHS? When doing a sculpured full set, do you...?

do all the white tips first and then go back and do the pinks, or do you do the white and the pinks at the same time on each nail (like the Tammy Taylor video)? Don't you get a crisper smile line if you go back and do the pinks later? This is what I have read, but I want your advice. Thanks!NAIL TECHS? When doing a sculpured full set, do you...?
Do all the whites first, then go back and do the pinks. As you come up on the white, do not use as much powder and liquid as you would near the matrix of the nail...

with acetone nail polish removerHow do I remove a set of gel nails?
Soak your nails in acetone and rub them off with a cotton ball. Resist the urge to pop the gel off, this will harm your nails.
    Riiiiiiipppp!
go to you closes bueaty supply shop and get a kit in it you will have a dip that you soak you nails in that makes the nail lift so it can be removed with out any damage to your nails
Soak your fingernails in acetone nail polish remover %26amp; use cotton balls to genly rub them off! Acetone is the greatest for removing anything like that-including acrylics %26amp; other stuff!!! But you may have to soak them for a good little bit, depends on how long they've been on and how good of a job was done!
